Maturing of wood

Choosing the right colour when you’re decorating your home isn’t always easy. Because of their visual presence in your home wood and especially wooden floors could dictate the whole atmosphere of your design style. Then a thoughtful decision becomes essential to prevent disappointment later or clashes with other materials.
Our Dutch design parquet manufacturer Parketfabriek Lieverdink has come up with a simple way to assist you in this.

Everyone who purchases a wooden floor should know wood ‘matures’ – changes colour - due to the influence of natural light. Most responsible for this change is ultraviolet light (sunlight).
The first 6 months will show the quickest maturing of the colour and then it gradually continues for a total of 2 years. Wood normally becomes deeper – warmer in colour -and can turn slightly yellow. This also depends on the finish material used on your wooden floor.
